A facelift works to treat the accumulation of deep wrinkles and loose sagging skin on the face and neck, which are the natural result of gravity and aging.  A patient with good skin elasticity and a strong bone structure makes the best candidate for a facelift.  A facelift is a highly individualized procedure and may involve a combination of the following: tightening, trimming and repositioning of lose sagging skin, fat deposits trimmed or suctioned, underlying muscles tightened.  Incisions may vary slightly, but most begin above the hairline at the temple, and follow the ear along the front and continue behind it into the scalp.  Additional incisions may be made under the chin if a lot of attention needs to be given to the neck area.  Click here to see sample sketches of the incisions.

A facelift is an inpatient procedure and takes between three and six hours.  Your face will be pale, bruised and puffy after the procedure, but don’t be concerned, this is expected.  It will take a few weeks before your results are fully apparent.
